The Postgraduate Program in Systematics, Use and Conservation of Biodiversity (PPGSIS), from the Center of Sciences and linked to the Department of Biology at the Federal University of Ceará -UFC was created in 2018, already with Masters and Doctorate courses.
PPGSIS was organized in order to meet the growing demand of CAPES 'Biodiversity area, in an area known to lack knowledge on the subject. This area was restructured at the end of 2011 to include courses in two other related areas: Ecology and Environment and Biological Sciences I, which included courses in the areas of Botany, Biological Oceanography and Zoology.
